 Mr Mariano\u2019s Wine<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The birth of the term<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Bodegas Marqu\u00e9s de Vizhoja was founded by our father in the year 1968. In those days, the Albari\u00f1 wine was barely known, and had not been introduced to market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To find the origin, though, one would have to look further in the past. The history of our winery began in the back room of a tavern in the area of Bouzas (Vigo). It was at that corner shop that our grandparents gave birth to Mr Mariano’s Wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its quality earned it a prize at a wine competition, the reward for which was the leaf from a vine. That is the origin of our brand. Our father decided to use the term \u201cVid\u201d (vine) as an important element in the cultivation of wine, the leaf of a vine. The tradition of including terms of nobility in wine during the \u201860s inspired Mr Mariano Pel\u00e1ez to adopt the title of Marqu\u00e9s when he completed his wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 That is how the idea of Marqu\u00e9s de Vidhoja arose… which went on to become the definitive \u201cMarqu\u00e9s de Vizhoja\u201d due to a printing error that changed the \u201cd\u201d to a \u201cz\u201d. The sonorous quality of the term inspired our father to adopt it as our current name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be said that our father was a pioneer in matters of blending. The turbot has been included on the bottle since the early days, since the desire was for the turbots of the white wines to be linked to seafood and shellfish. In the old days, this symbol would be hung on the bottle on paper, but now it is a part of the bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finca la Moreira<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A place of privilege<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Years later, in 1976, Mr Mariano decided to purchase the country house located at the Finca La Moreira. The climate, the mountains, and the proximity to the Mi\u00f1o River made it a privileged spot for cultivating grapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house, in a defensive position, consists of a structure which dates back to the 18th century, and is built in the border region between Spain and Portugal. Its strategic position gave it its defensive purpose. Indeed, from the House one can see the entire valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albari\u00f1o: commitment and valuation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The commitment of our father to Galician wine is evident in its trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was one of the first 14 professionals who promoted the creation of the Regulatory Council of D.O. R\u00edas Baixas. His own colleagues called him the Gentleman of the Albari\u00f1o. It was an acknowledgement of the staunch value of the Albari\u00f1o wines, their vindication amongst other native grapes, and their role in their defence of the professionalisation of the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, it was an acknowledgement of his vast professional trajectory, which made him a model to follow amongst the professionals in Galicia’s wine sector.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

All that history, an entire life dedicated to the world of wine.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was the year 1968 when Marqu\u00e9s de Vizhoja was born of the fruits of the know-how of our father, Mr Mariano Pel\u00e1ez.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was in 1988 that our wineries unveiled two new wines, registered with the Denomination of Origin R\u00edas Baixas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Torre La Moreira is 100% Albari\u00f1o. Se\u00f1or de Folla Verde is a coupage made up of 70% Albari\u00f1o, 15% Treixadura and 15% Loureira from the County of Tea.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Gotas del Marqu\u00e9s (Drops from the Marquis)<\/h3>\n

At Bodegas Marqu\u00e9s de Vizhoja, we invest in R&D.<\/h4>\n

Thus, in 2007 we launched Gotas del Marqu\u00e9s. This is a single-use form of liqueur to give scent to caf\u00e9s or to infuse with desserts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the brand of Gotas del Marqu\u00e9s one can find single-use products of grape brandy alcohol, cream liqueur, herbal brandy, dry anise, brandy, A\u00f1ejo Dominican rum and Scottish whisky.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gotas del Marqu\u00e9s has enjoyed success evidenced by its awards from Innoval, in the 2012 Food and Beverage category, and two Sial D\u2019Or distinctions at Sial Paris 2012. Albari\u00f1o Torre la Moreira<\/h3>\n

In the year 1980, our 100% Albari\u00f1o wine, Torre La Moreira, was born.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was in May of 2007 that Marqu\u00e9s de Vizhoja launched into the market our Albari\u00f1o wine with the Braille label; a wine included in the D.O. R\u00edas Baixas.<\/span><\/p>\n

At present, this label is applied to the 0.75L bottles, the most popular format for home or restaurant consumption.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Our Se\u00f1or da Folla Verde was born in 1980, under D.O. R\u00edas Baixas, made up of 70% Albari\u00f1o, 15% Treixadura and 15% Loureira.<\/span><\/p>\n

A white wine with a limited production that is a tribute to the County of Tea.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2017, our coupage was chosen as \u201cDelight of R\u00edas Baixas, County of the Sub-area of the County of Tea\u201d. By 2011 it had been named Delight of the Year at the 2011 County Wine Tasting.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

In 2012, our Galician liqueurs were born. d\u2019Vizhoja is the brand that brings together our winery’s Premium liqueurs. They come in 70cl bottles.<\/span><\/p>\n

The d\u2019Vizhoja Glician liqueurs are our cream liqueur, coffee liqueur, brandy alcohol liqueur and herbal brandy.<\/span><\/p>\n
